With this update I am adding quite a few script-related fixes and improvements that I had previously been wary of. The simple reason for this that I am utterly clueless when it comes to Papyrus or really code of any kind, so I am stuck with trusting the mod authors know what they do which is not so easy because it is my responsibility that SME offers as solid a base as possible. On the other hand, nearly all of the additions are script modifications by ferrari365 who takes the time to explain their edits which is extremely helpful. I also had a close look at the respective comment sections (though user reports are generally unreliable) and decided that it should be safe enough to add their mods.

With this update I am including relevant ModGroups I created while working on Aurora / TPF. The CC ones are not for any of the four mandatory ones so they are off by default and they may also use different CRCs since I slightly modified some plugins. In that case, you can quickly update them in xEdit (or just disable all ModGroups altogether if they are not part of your workflow).

It has recently been brought to my attention that the latest version of the Creation Kit and the updated version of CK Fixes may have some lingering issues. As a matter of precaution I decided to (for the time being) roll back to CK 1.5.73 and the original CK Fixes.
Regarding the removal of Mannequin Management: Technically, the mod should have been redundant since Skyrim 1.6.629.0 in which Beth slapped the Immobile flag on the MannakinRace record (an undocumented change, of course). This should (?) resolve the issue.

So turns out that I, at some point, fucked up the SSE Display Tweaks config file which should NOT replace the default one, but add to it. Even if you are not installing this update (which should be true for all existing users), please rename the config file in the SSE Display Tweaks - Settings mod to SSEDisplayTweaks_Custom.ini and reinstall the main SSE Display Tweaks mod to restore the full INI. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Also I re-arranged the separators again, distributing the CC-related mods to existing sections. They are still of by default though.

I have begun work on a visuals-only mod list based on SME and immediately felt the need to improve the baseline. After deciding to adopt a standardised system of separators across my various setups, I modified the ones in SME accordingly and, while I was at it, I also switched up the garish colours. MO2 is prettier now, yay.
Most importantly, I added the Essential Mods - Creation Club section with a handful of mods that I consider, well, essential when using any creations. They are all optional and disabled by default; the AE DLC is no requirement for SME.

For the forseeable future, SME will continue to use SSE 1.6.353 until all mods have been updated. However, I recompiled with the latest version of Skyrim in my Steam folder, meaning that users also need to have the latest version to install SME. Wabbajack will downgrade the copy of the game in your Game Root folder. This way, you don’t have to downgrade your Steam installation.

With this update, I migrated the SME documentation to the new Skyrim SE Lists section of the website which breaks all links. I fixed those I could think of but might have missed some in which case please let me know on Discord.
In other news, I disabled the Fix Game Registry Path plugin for now. It is very convenient for LOOT (which uses the registry key to locate the game), but isn’t really needed for anything else and also breaks Creation Organizer. On top of that, it becomes cumbersome to constantly update the path when swapping between modded setups. I found a different solution for making LOOT work.

Following feedback, I decided to do some pruning where more controversial “fixes” were concerned and add a few more tools. Some of these I have not been using extensively before and while I tested them all, I cannot exclude the possibility that I missed something in the setup. If that is the case I will fix it asap.
Including a section of fix mods is very difficult as many are somewhat subjective or not compatible with / required for every setup. For one mod in particular, I have had people both very happy about its inclusion and completely opposed to it. So I decided to yeet most mods that could possibly be controversial and wrote up a list of recommendations instead. Refer to that, please.
