• Create a new folder: Your Modding Folder\Tools\SSELODGen.
  • Download xLODGen for SSE here (click this link and download the latest version from MEGA).
  • Open the downloaded archive and move all files from the xLODGen folder into your new directory.
  • Switch to MO2 and add xLODGenx64.exe as an executable to the drop-down menu.
  • Under arguments, add:
    • -sse -o:"Your Filepath"

Filepath: In order to have the output be directly moved into a mod folder (and thus have it appear in MO2 without any extra steps) we need to use the -o command to define an output folder. This will be Mod Organizer 2\mods\SSELODGen [Output].

In my case I add the following in MO2: -sse -o:"C:\Modding\Mod Organizer 2 - Skyrim SE\mods\SSELODGen [Output]"

Note: The SSELODGen [Output] folder does not exist yet but it will be created automatically.

  • Create a new folder: Mod Organizer 2\mods\xLODGen - SSE-Terrain-Tamriel ESM.
  • Download the SSE-Terrain-Tamriel.esm (click this link and download the latest version from MEGA).
  • Move the downloaded ESM into your new folder.
  • Refresh (F5) Mod Organizer 2 and it will appear at the bottom of your load order.
  • Move it below the EARLY LOADER separator but do not activate it yet.

  • Activate the SSE-Terrain-Tamriel ESM and place it below the main ESMs.

  • Launch SSELODGen through Mod Organizer 2.

Select Terrain LOD for all worldspaces.

Now when it comes to the specific settings, I have to admit I have literally no idea. Fortunately, DarkLadyLexy’s LOTD STEP guide includes instructions so I would recommend for everyone to head over to her guide, jump to the xLODGen section and use her recommended settings. This is the relevant part.

Once you have configured everything, hit GENERATE. This will take some time (54 minutes for me) and I recommend you step away from your computer in the meantime.

  • Close xLODGen once the following message is returned: LOD Generator: finished (you can close this application now).
  • Back in Mod Organizer 2, press F5 and SSELODGen [Output] will appear at the bottom of your mod order (thanks to the -o argument).
  • Place SSELODGen [Output] below the DISTANT TERRAIN separator and activate it.

  • Uncheck the following two mods in your mod order (left pane):
    • SSE-Terrain-Tamriel ESM
    • Lightweight Grass Overhaul - Terrain LOD Textures

They are only needed for the LOD generation process:
